AEM Cold Air Intake Installation

The AEM Cold Air Intake is installed on a 2003 Honda Civic. This is a more difficult installation than the normal short ram intake system.

AEM Cold Air Intake

Our first product is an AEM Cold Air Intake. It’s red in color. Installation was a little harder than we anticipated. Installation took about 3 hours. Here are the contents taken outside of the box. You have instructions with tubing and gromets, Clamps etc.

Here is a picture of the stock engine. Things are pretty tight in there.

Installation requires that the front driver wheel be removed. The plastic lining between the wheel and engine have to be removed as well. You will need to cut out some parts of the plastic to get it installed back on.

Here is a closeup shot of the plastic lining.

Take off the top of the airbox. Then Remove the stock airbox by using a 10mm socket and taking off all the bolts around to box. Also remove hoses from air box filter. We were surpised to find a cone style filter already installed.

There is a hidden bolt in front of the fan that needs to be removed as well to get all of the air box pieces out.

This should be removed by now, but we are showing it here becuse the next picture is where it goes. Pictured in his hand is the heat sensor. You’ll have to install a small gromet into the side of the intake tube. This gromet is supplied.

Pictured here is the intake tube where the heat sensor taps into. When installing the heat sensor, make sure that the air filter is off. On our first try the gromet fell off and into the intake pipe. So be careful when installing this piece.

We found it was easiest to install this intake by clamping these hoses on outside of the engine and then sliding the intake down into the fender well.

You might need a buddy to help guide the intake tube down into the fender well. The next step would be to install the cone filter onto this end.

Go ahead and clamp up the top pieces.

We had to cut some of the inside lining to put it back on. It wasn’t too hard to do with the right tools.

Here it is all buttoned up.

Some hoses have to be re-connected from the original air box. Here is a picture of the intake installed. Not too much to see.

After taking it out for a spin it was a world of difference. The car accelerated much harder than before and also had a great roaring sound to it too. We highly recommend this product.

Also, there is a small vent that could be cut out in the front bumper. It would give the intake more cold air if you cut that open.

Megan Racing Cat Back Exhaust Installed On Sentra SE-R

The Megan Racing Cat Back Exhaust was installed on our Project SE-R. Money is very tight these days, so I looked around for a brand that can deliver high quality and performance while being on a budget. This is one of the finest cat back systems for the money. For under $380, you can get a complete cat back exhaust system with silencer.

Without the silencer you can gain more power and the noise gives a deep exhaust sound. I noticed more power throughout every gear.

When the silencer is installed, it’s very quiet. You can’t even tell you have the exhaust installed, but you still get the looks of a performance exhaust.

I can’t justify spending $400-600 on the same type of exhaust when you can buy the Megan Racing one for usually under $300. It’s the exact same quality as the others and delivers a powerful punch once installed.

Here it is straight out of the box.

The bends are really nice and the quality is top notch.

Headlight Wires burned out?

If you run those high wattage Japanese bulbs such as some PIAA 110 watt bulbs you run the risk of burning your wiring harness. I know from first hand experience. My low beams looked like highbeams and my highbeams were like HID’s. I noticed one side went out pretty quickly and when I looked this is what I saw.

You don’t need all these tools to get the job done but it sure makes it easy when you do have them. Here is a picture of the wiring harness ready to go. Just crimp the wires back onto your car and it’s good to go.

Homemade Race Car Simulator

As a kid I loved to make things out of wood. My wife had just went to the Philippines for a month and I was pretty bored. I decided to take the old 2×4’s I had laying in the garage and make a car simulator out of them. I already had a Logitech steering wheel and I decided to grab one of the rear seats out of my Rav4. They are made to come out so it just fit in perfect. As you can see this little project provided hours of fun!

Later on I added some more 2×4’s in front of the steering wheel so I could put my notebook on it and play games that way too. You can buy other seats from Walmart for pretty cheap but you get what you pay for. The nicest one around is the Sparco Racing Cockpit Pro pictured here:

Megan Racing Drift Spec Exhaust

One of Megan Racing s strongest products, the Cat-Back System is made of SUS-304 Stainless Steel with a fully polished surface, CNC machined flanges and mandrel bends. Its aggressive styling, and deep, strong tone are just part of the MR Cat-Back characteristics. It also serves to improve horsepower, torque and overall performance with its straight-through design. The exhaust systems have 2.5” piping and 3” piping for certain forced induction models. Finished with a tip that is designed to increase the scavenging effect and achieve maximum performance, while adding a perfect match on exterior styling as well.
